Course Objectives:
This course covers the critical safety and health tools that are the backbone of general and construction industry safety and health program standards. This is the union of incident specific expertise and managerial skills. This course also reviews advanced training that applies to servicing in the oil and gas well drilling industry, specifically drilling issues that may occur on a site. The required amount of time to complete the course is dependent upon your knowledge of workplace safety, but we find that the average completion time is approximately 80 hours. You have up to six months to complete the course.
Learning Outcome:
The PSM will serve as safety team director who may report to a Corporate Safety Professional. Student will gain expertise in a wide variety of OSHA and EPA related plans and programs that may be required at a drilling site, including HAZCOM, HAZWOPER, LOTO, Confined Space Entry, PPE, Accident Investigation, Hazard Analysis and inspection procedures.
Course Requirements:
All NASP/IASP certificates are stand alone certificates. However, NASP/IASP’s designations are designed to be achieved in a step by step building block process where each level achieved is a step toward the next higher level. You may purchase the highest level certificate, and it will encompass the building blocks below it. If you have started at a lower level and are now trying to work towards a higher certificate course, please contact us for special pricing. Obtaining the PSM requires successful completion of the Petroleum Safety Specialist first and then the Petroleum Safety Manager.
Online Exams:
The student will take a comprehensive online exam for the Petroleum Safety Specialist and the Petroleum Safety Manager. You must score 80% to receive certificate. You have three opportunities to pass each exam.
Recertification:
A refresher course and exam will be required every three (3) years. The cost of this recertification is $375.
